Recursive sampling simulations of 3D gravity coupled to scalar fermions

چکیده
We study numerically the phase structure of a model of 3D gravity interacting with scalar fermions. We measure the 3D counterpart of the “string” susceptibility exponent as a function of the inverse Newton coupling α. We show that there are two phases separated by a critical point around αc ≃ 2. The numerical results support the hypothesis that the phase structures of 3D and 2D simplicial gravity are qualitatively similar, the inverse Newton coupling in 3D playing the role of the central charge of matter in 2D.

Fermions and Emergent Noncommutative Gravity
Fermions coupled to Yang-Mills matrix models are studied from the point of view of emergent gravity. We show that the simple matrix model action provides an appropriate coupling for fermions to gravity, albeit with a nonstandard spin connection. Integrating out the fermions in a nontrivial geometrical background induces indeed the Einstein-Hilbert action and a dilaton-like term, at least for on...

In this paper, fermions are minimally coupled to 3D-gravity with dynamical torsion. A Kalb-Ramond field is also introduced and non-minimally coupled to the fermions in a gauge-invariant way. We show that a 1-loop mass generation mechanism takes place for both the 2-form gauge field and the torsion. As for the fermions, no mass is dynamically generated: at 1-loop, there is only a fermion mass sh...
متن کاملGeneralized 2d dilaton gravity with matter fields
We extend the classical integrability of the CGHS model of 2d gravity [1] to a larger class of models, allowing the gravitational part of the action to depend more generally on the dilaton field and, simultaneously, adding fermion– and U(1)–gauge–fields to the scalar matter. On the other hand we provide the complete solution of the most general dilaton–dependent 2d gravity action coupled to chi...

Within the functional renormalization group approach we study the effective quantum field theory of Einstein gravity and one self-interacting scalar coupled to N(f) Dirac fermions. We include in our analysis the matter anomalous dimensions induced by all the interactions and analyze the highly nonlinear beta functions determining the renormalization flow. We find the existence of a nontrivial f...
متن کاملCold atom simulation of interacting relativistic quantum field theories.
We demonstrate that Dirac fermions self-interacting or coupled to dynamic scalar fields can emerge in the low energy sector of designed bosonic and fermionic cold atom systems. We illustrate this with two examples defined in two spacetime dimensions. The first one is the self-interacting Thirring model. The second one is a model of Dirac fermions coupled to a dynamic scalar field that gives ris...
